Times change, and many of us don’t use checks (or even cash) very much any more. But the offering Sunday morning is what it has always been – a cash transaction, somewhat modified (a century or so ago) to include checks, too.
We’d like to encourage you to consider giving to the work of New Church by using the same methods you use to pay your bills which probably means on-line. It will actually be safer: two years ago, the morning offering was stolen out of the office. Giving on-line would reduce that risk. But mainly, it would be easier for you, too.
If you decide to do this, make the payment to New Church – Berkeley, and have the bank send it to the church at 2606 Dwight Way, Berkeley 94704. In the meantime, we’ll keep passing the offering bags, symbolizing the importance of giving as part of our worship. But the heart is the thing, not the external details. Thanks for thinking about this, and thanks for your part in making our work possible.
“Let each of you set aside a sum of money in keeping with his/her income, so that when I come, no collections will have to be taken.” I Corinthians 16:3

New Church celebrates Easter!
Posted April 10, 2010
He is risen indeed! New Church kicked off the festivities with crepes before church on Sunday morning. That was followed by a special Easter service, with a rocking band and a skit by NCKids! acting out the events on that first Easter Sunday, complete with Roman centurions guarding the tomb dressed in their shiny helmets! Matt led the choir with a Keith Green favorite, “Lord I want to Follow”, and the service was followed by lunch together while the kids hunted for eggs. Lots of fun was had by everyone, as we celebrated the risen Lord!

Community Meals!
Posted March 2, 2010
Thanks to all of you who graciously opened your homes (and kitchens!) this past weekend to host some students for some home cooking and fellowship. It was a great blessing to them, and for everyone involved as well I’m sure. May God use times like this spent together to build us up into the body of Christ He desires us to be!

Valentine's Day Babysitting...A Success!
Posted February 16, 2010
Thanks to all of our Valentine’s Day babysitters! All of the NCKids had a blast, making their own pizzas, playing in the foosball tournament, and watching goofy movies. And even though this party was just for kids, we heard that the parents had a fun Valentine’s Day, too!
Toddler Corner
Posted February 14, 2010
Toddler Corner is a community outreach event Fridays at 10:30, for moms (and grandmas) and toddlers, in the NC Nursery. It’s a great thing to invite a neighbor to this, especially people who are not in the church. It’s free of charge. Pray for Heather, Jenny and Jo-Anne,who are the ones who keep it going. And especially, pray for the women and children who are touched by this ministry. Visit the Reaching Out – At Home page for more details.
Haiti
Posted February 14, 2010
Thanks to all who gave in the offering for relief in Haiti. There was a really good response – and you can still contribute if you would like to. Talk to any of the elders or staff. The money will go with people from New Church in the first weeks of May, when the needs will still be severe, but when giving is likely to be less – and mainly, it will be channeled directly to people in need, without any intermediaries.
If you are interested in taking part on this outreach trip, first week of May, please talk with Amy in the next week or two.
Congratulations!
