Cross-Cultural Outreach
foreign missions.

In the past few years we have been able to get involved in various regions around the world, from East Asia and Northern India to Ensenada, Mexico. As we see it, cross cultural work is simply fulfilling our vision and our priorities in another country, trying to help other people groups come to know Jesus, too.

Central and East Asia

For the past several summers, New Church has sent a team to Central and East Asia on month-long trips. From sharing meals to competing in ping-pong, individuals formed friendships with the locals that have lasted far beyond each trip. To learn how more about the trip or to help sponsor the team, please contact us at info@newchurchberkeley.org.

Northern India

In the summer of 1999 we sent a team of New Church folks to Northern India to begin praying for the region and people groups there. The team connected with a local school in a poverty-stricken area. Run by Indian doctors, this school focused on providing health care, education, and the chance to hear about Jesus to children whose regular lives were full of abandonment, poverty, and disease. We were able to start paying the tuition for some of the children and continued this sponsorship program during the summer of 2000, when we sent over another team of folks. Right now we are able to sponsor children for local education by Indian believers. If you are interested in sponsoring a child or learning more about this program, please contact the church at sponsorship@newchurchberkeley.org or call (510)841-6391.

Ensenada, Mexico

Our first trip was in 1997 and we have been on 7 trips since. We visit with La Iglesia de Gran Comision in Ensenada, Baja Mexico. We put on a Vacation Bible School (VBS) for the children during the day and youth sports activities during the afternoon. We usually end the day with campfires in the evening. We also have helped out at their Mixteco church putting on a VBS (about 30 kids) for the children and a time of fellowship for the Mixteco women. In the past, we had the opportunity to visit their newly renovated drug rehab center, where many men have been healed of their addiction and have decided to follow Jesus. If you are interested in these trips, contact crosscultural@newchurchberkeley.org
